Pastor’s Bookshelf - Welcome to my bookshelf!
Each month I will discuss a recent book that I’ve finished.
This month I’d like to talk about Praying Like Monks,
Living Like Fools
By Tyler Staton
One of my cardinal rules for book recommendations is that I try not to recommend a book that I have not finished (just in case it really goes off the rails in the last few pages). I read every page of every book I recommend. However, I’m breaking that rule because this one is worth it and I wanted you to have this review as soon as possible. As our church enters into a season of prayer and fasting as we prepare for Easter - I cannot recommend this book enough for that very topic. It is full of conviction and comfort, heartfelt stories and incredibly relatable moments. For every struggle with prayer and my connection with Jesus that I have had in my many years as a Christian - Tyler has found a way to put it into words and address it head on. If you’ve been in a meeting or life group or even just standing close to me when the topic of prayer comes up - chances are I brought up this book.A fellow pastor friend recommended this book to me, and it has been brilliant so far - and while I do still have a few pages left before it is complete, I think the only thing that will surprise me in the last few pages is how quickly I return to read them again.
EDIT UPDATE - I did finish every page, and LOVED IT. highly recommend.
